MÖTLEY CRÜE, SIXX: A.M., DROWNING POOL To Use iLike to Maintain Fan Relationships
December 3, 2007According to Wired.com, iLike — a music discovery service that's part of the growing community of social networking sites — has announced a deal with Eleven Seven Records, a label/management service that's home to SIXX A.M. (with Nikki Sixx),MÖTLEY CRÜE, DROWNING POOL and others, that will allow these artists to keep their fans updated with cellphone videos and tour diaries, among other things.
SIXX: A.M. is debuting the video for its new single, "Accidents Can Happen", on iLike and iLike's Facebook app. In addition, Sixx "will show fans what goes into launching a new band and supporting a new single" using weekly video updates, and an online band diary." Meanwhile, DROWNING POOL will post a video tour diary that was filmed using a cameraphone each week. Fans can post their reactions to the video on the band's iLike fan wall.
As for MÖTLEY CRÜE, the group, which iLike says is "one of the earliest adopters of iLike's blogging tool," will give away Guitar Hero III-related prizes to iLike users who have friended the band.
